Prairie Beef is a small grassfed beef operation in Rice, MN. Our herd of Belted Galloway's are 100% grass fed, NO grain fillers - resulting in high quality lean meat. We are meticulously dedicated to keeping our cattle clean, healthy, and happy. Prairie Beef steers live exactly as they would with no human intervention- maybe with a little added pampering. We do not use preventative medicine like vaccines, growth hormones, or antibiotics. Many of our steers never receive medical treatment, but out of respect for our animals we do reserve the right to treat them using medicine in appropriate doses if needed, so we chose not to become certified organic. About The Owners
Jocelyn
After working as an accountant in Minneapolis for nearly 10 years, I moved back to Rice, MN- becoming the 4th generation on my family’s crop farm. Shortly after moving back, I partnered with Matt to fill a vacant pasture full of lively Belted Galloway cattle- whom I affectionately refer to as my cow babies! In addition to serving my cow babies to ensure they are experiencing the ultimate in cattle comfort, I enjoy working on the crop farm, tending my laying hens, cooking, and beekeeping.
Matt
I gained an interest in farming from my Grandfather. Although I was never able to work with him, he continues to inspire me. Since I was a kid, it’s always been my dream to raise some cattle of my own, so I jumped at the chance to partner with Jocelyn! When not taking care of the cattle or working on the crop farm, I like to spend time hunting and fishing.
